Malware

Any malicious software (viruses, spyware, ransomware, etc.) that damages or steals data.

Malware can disrupt operations and compromise data. For example, ransomware encrypting company files can halt business processes, or a keylogger designed to record all keyboard activity and send this data to a malicious hacker who would have access to all credentials and company data that had been typed.
