Role overview:
As we continue to expand our managed network services portfolio, we are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead the design and delivery of comprehensive network solutions to our MSP customers. Your role will involve managing the end-to-end project lifecycle from pre-sales technical support through to successful deployment of firewalls, switches, and WiFi access points. This role will be 50% technical coordination, ensuring the correct network designs and project deliverables are produced in collaboration with our technical experts, and 50% project management in a customer-facing environment. You will work closely with diverse clients ranging from small offices to large multi-site enterprises, coordinating network installations and managed services delivery. Internally, you will collaborate with our fibre delivery team, technical specialists, procurement, and installation teams to manage the complete delivery of these projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute project plans, delivery schedules, and resource allocation for managed network service deployments
- Support pre-sales activities including technical discovery, requirements gathering, and proposal development alongside our technical experts
- Reviewing site requirements and overseeing (and attending as required) WiFi heat mapping, on-site surveys, and subsequent network designs for customer premises
- Producing deliverables including network diagrams, equipment specifications, installation method statements, and programmes of work as required
- Coordinate with procurement teams to order and track delivery of network equipment including firewalls, switches, and WiFi access points
- Liaise with technical specialists and network experts to ensure optimal solution design and smooth handover from sale to delivery
- Liaise with installation teams and field operations to resource and schedule all survey and installation activities
- Maintain frequent communications with respective stakeholders (external customers and internal teams) on project status and next steps
- Assist in developing new processes and adapt to a dynamic work environment across varying project sizes and complexities
- Act as the main escalation point for project deliverables and take necessary actions to resolve technical and logistical issues
- Maintain up-to-date systems and records for all managed network service projects
The right candidate:
- Practical project management experience, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Extensive hands-on experience with on-site operations, construction processes, and building environments, with a strong ability to navigate complex site conditions and coordinate effectively with stakeholders
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, and WiFi systems, gained through job experience and industry exposure
- Self-starter with a curiosity to grow and contribute to the company's expanding managed services success
- Adaptable, with a "can-do" attitude and ability to manage changing priorities across multiple concurrent projects
- Creative thinker, able to handle different working styles and project complexities efficiently
- Excellent communication skills with diverse teams, especially in managing both customer relationships and internal technical coordination
- Comfortable in a hands-on, autonomous role with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Strong time management and organisational skills with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management tools, and quick to learn new technical systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with customer-facing experience
- Flexible, team-oriented, and committed to seeing complex technical projects through to completion
- Network certifications such as CCDA or equivalent are beneficial but not required
